Worth every penny!

The Queen must be the best advertisement for Britain that money can buy.

According to Business Life (BA's inflight magazine-May 2012), her annual stipend of £32.1mn equates to 51p for every British tax payer.

Yet she generates £500 mn in tourism on average, and an additional 800 private companies, from Rigby and Pellier, which makes the Queen's bras, to Hunter, which makes her wellington boots, benefit from an association with the House of Windsor through a Royal Warrant.

And that's before you look at the social benefit. Nothing else unites the nation in the way she does. (Or even my village in Wiltshire, where we enjoyed a fabulous Big Jubilee Lunch in the Manor paddock on Sunday 3rd.)
